Chief Executive of Synexus named as Ernst & Young Turnaround Entrepreneur of the Year 2010
Synexus was founded in 1998 following the merger of the Edgebright Partnership of GPs in the north with the southern based clinical trials division of AEA Technology plc. Michael Fort’s tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit has allowed the business to gather momentum and grow at an exponential rate and it was recognition of this which enabled Michael to gain this prestigious award.
With Michael at the helm Synexus has, in the past few years, developed from a business model which attracted scepticism to one which now has worldwide acceptance and is regarded as the new way of conducting clinical trials. No longer does the pharma industry see Synexus as an experiment but a tried and tested method which has radically changed the industry’s approach to the recruitment and running of clinical trials at their own dedicated research centres.
Michael has been personally responsible for embracing the challenges which face the clinical trials industry and actively seeking to develop an alternative way of work which faces each of those challenges head on. His willingness to try untested methods, whilst maintaining a balanced and ethical perspective (vital in the clinical trials industry) is a key factor in his success.
